Wisepops Field Configuration Policy

Wisepops Field Configuration Changes

Current state

Wisepops lack attribution data used by internal MM systems to properly ascribe lead sourcing.

This was not a major issue when wisepops represented only 1% of our leads, but the exit intents continue to cannibalize more of the lead volume, leading to a blind spot.

Practical impacts:

  • Harder for Technology team to perform analysis
  • Harder for Marketing to be given solid data
  • Debugging/diagnosing technical issues is more difficult
  • Franchisees see a worse CPL
  • Wordstream optimizes based on incomplete data.

  • New policy/procedure

All wisepops (new and existing) must be updated with the new fields required to enable rollout of our source attribution tracking.

    Implementation

For all existing wisepops, and for all new wisepops, please perform the following actions prior to publishing:

    Step 1:

Open each popup in the builder

    Step 2:

Click on the form (do this for each form if multiple)

    Step 3:

In the left column, click on the + sign and select "Hidden field"

    Step 4:

Add an ID, turn on the "Populate the field with user attributes" option, and select "UTM campaign" in the dropdown list.

Reproduce the same process for all the UTM parameters shown below.
